Micropayment

"'Micropayment'" originally meant 1/1000th of a US dollar, but now is often defined to mean payments too small to be affordably processed by credit card or other electronic transaction processing mechanisms.

The development is in it's infancy. Some MMORPGs have been adopting none monthly fee based worlds, where items such as uprgrades, fuel, and food are each charged to the player's acount at the end of each month.

There are also Token outfits around, much like Token machines at the video arcade, they accept real money and give you 10¢ virtual credits to spend at participating websites.

As of 7/07, Paypal charges a flat 30¢ fee, plus 3% for each transaction, with no monthly or yearly fees.
